World Book Night - 23 April - Books to Make You Smile

World Book Night is the annual celebration of books and reading that takes place on 23 April. People from all backgrounds are brought together for one reason – to inspire others to read more. The best part about it is that everyone can get involved! Whether you read a lot or don’t know when you last picked a book up, you can join in the celebration in so many different ways.

This year's theme is 'Books to Make You Smile'. Together with publishers, the Reading Agency have curated a list of books that they believe will make everyone smile.

All titles (except Stories to Make You Smile) are in print and available to borrow from public libraries or buy from retailers. Most titles are also available in digital format, as eBooks or audiobooks, so you can find the book that is best for you.

Libraries are not just spaces to provide access to books. Increasingly, they are hubs for the local community to meet (albeit virtually at the moment) and feel connected. Our work has great benefits for maintaining both mental and physical wellbeing and community cohesion, which we need now more than ever.

You can come into your local Slough Library and browse and issue books Mon-Fri 10am-4pm and Sat 10am-2pm for 15 minutes. Just bring your Library card and facemask.
