Read, Talk, Share with Slough Libraries and Culture

Slough Libraries and Culture Service is delighted to be working with the Reading Agency on their new campaign Read, Talk, Share - an initiative to combat loneliness and promote wellbeing through the proven power of reading during the COVID-19 pandemic this winter.

Our libraries will now be able to offer an expanded collection of Reading Well books for mental health. Titles in the collection provide helpful information and support for managing common mental health conditions, or dealing with difficult feelings and experiences. Some books also include personal stories from people who are living with or caring for someone with mental health needs. All the books were recommended by health experts and there are separate collections for children and young people. They are available via our click and collect service from Britwell Library or The Curve. For Click and Collect go to this link: https://slough.spydus.co.uk/.../spydus.exe/MSGTRN/WPAC/HOME

A selection of the titles will also be available digitally from Borrowbox, which can be accessed free with your library membership.

The Libraries and Culture Service is also receiving funding to set up Reading Friends - a reading befriending programme that helps to start conversations and connect people who are lonely and isolated. We will be working with local partners to deliver activities around a range of different topics and reading materials that bring people together for a friendly chat. If you're interested in participating yourself, or know of any residents that could benefit from this programme, please contact Alison Beer, Slough Libraries and Culture alison.beer@slough.gov.uk
