Halloween Reads and Kanopy for Kids!



🎃 This Halloween we know you will be celebrating differently. You may not be able to go trick or treating and attend spooky Halloween parties but you can create an excellent atmosphere at home, reading spooky, scary and ghostly 👻 stories under torchlight🔦. All of our libraries have an excellent selection of Halloween 🎃 related books.

You can still dig out your costumes, pop on your masks and celebrate virtually! Keep your eyes 👀 peeled on our Facebook and Instagram pages for special Halloween crafts, story times and puzzles.

All the books featured in the image above are available to borrow through Slough Libraries.
You can come into your local Slough Library and browse and issue books Mon-Fri 10am-4pm and Sat 10am-2pm for 15 minutes. Remember to bring your Library card and a face mask.

Alternatively, request through Click & Collect, you just need your Library card number and PIN.

Kanopy is the free on-demand film and documentary streaming platform available with Slough Library membership. This Halloween why not watch a movie or an animated storytime on Kanopy Kids as a family? Kanopy also features a great selection of animated fairytales and over 200 picture book titles that have been adapted as short films. Kanopy can be streamed on computer, tablet and smartphone, so it's possible to have a storytime anytime, anyplace! Here are some of our handpicked Halloween favs!

Setting up Kanopy On a computer

  1. Go to the Kanopy website https://slough.kanopy.com/

  2. Click the white ‘Log in’ button in the top right-hand corner of the screen

  3. Click ‘Don’t have an account yet? Get Started’

  4. Click ‘Find your library’

  5. Start typing ‘Slough Libraries’ and select ‘Slough Libraries - United Kingdom’ when it appears as a drop-down option

  6. Enter your library card number and click the red ‘Continue’ button

  7. Fill in the registration form

  8. Kanopy will send an email to the address you provided. Click the orange ‘Verify email’ button in this email

  9. 'Slough Libraries’ Kanopy service will now be available to use.
