This book is one of my son’s first and favourite book series. Greg Heffley is such an amusing character and the illustrations made the books so much more interesting for him to read. This led both my children’s love for books to grow.
Middle School the Worst Years of My Life
by James Patterson
Ages 9+
Rafe Katchadorian really captures the essence of hating school, his wild antics made my son laugh out loud on many occasions that I read it out of curiosity. Whether to reminisce or to relate, it can be enjoyed by the whole family. I would greatly recommend it.
Check Mates
by Stewart Foster
Ages 9+
This Book is beautiful and captivating, it shines a light on an intricate and diverse disorder in an educational chess filled way. I found the main character Felix relatable to both myself and my son. I appreciate the grandad’s persistent and loving way he supports his grandchild Felix. This is a must read for all ages.
The Bromeliad Trilogy
by Terry Pratchett
Ages 9+
This very amusing Trilogy is compacted into one book full of hysteric laughs. Masklin the main character is a Nome, (NOT GNOME) who is fed up with life in the hole he shared with his elderly family. All there is to eat is rats and leftovers left by humans, so when the opportunity to sneak on to the truck arises Masklin takes it. This funny journey starts for Masklin when he and his family arrive at the mysterious story. I love this trilogy and would have to do a lot of looking to find one better. Definitely one of my families’ favourite.
