A Peek of the Rolling Stacks in the Curve

Sometimes when you search the catalogue for a book the location is displayed as ‘reserve stock’ or ‘overflow shelves’. This simply means that the books are stored in our ‘Rolling stacks’.

This area is not accessible to the public and you would need to either speak to a member of staff to retrieve the book you wish to borrow or reserve through Click & Collect.

The reason we store books in this restricted area is because these books are fragile, due to age. Some non-fiction books are from the 1930’s and most of the fiction books are post 1950's, many are considered classics by historically renowned authors.

The Rolling Stacks contain hundreds of books by acclaimed authors which you don't find in the general Library. Below is just a snippet of some of those books.

You can come into your local Slough Library and browse and issue books Mon-Fri 10am-4pm and Sat 10am-2pm for 15 minutes. Just bring your Library card and facemask.
Alternatively, request through Click & Collect, you just need your Library card number and PIN:
